Bonjour. This week we are going to take a look at a couple players that are developing faster than your buddy’s younger sister. I mean, they've kinda been around, but now we're starting to take notice about things we never paid attention to before. And also, Carter Verhaeghe. He's a man. He's 30.
Adam " Mr. Fantastic" Fantilli - I refer to him as that because he’s been simply fantastic for the month of November, racking up 12 points in 12 games. The real thing I have liked is his consistency, as he’s only had 3 pointless outings in this stretch. He's up to 17 points and 53 shots on the season, thanks to his recent hot streak. The 21 year old is looking to improve on his 30 goal, 54 point campaign from last season. With his recent play, it doesn't look like he's going to be a sleeper anymore, but rather, a full-on awakening. Somehow there are 49% of leagues he isn’t rostered? Make sure yours isn’t one of them.
Matt Coronato - The 23 year old former 13th overall pick has become a staple in the Calgary offense to start the season. He occupies the right wing on L1/PP1. He's currently third on the team in points with 14 and with 7 of those coming in his last 5, he’s starting to warm up to fever levels. Up to a whopping 68 shots already, he is clearly unafraid to fire that biscuit. He has even had an 11-shot performance in one game alone. Those are potential SOG week changers for your squad. With 23 goals and 47 points last season, 17 of those coming on the PP, he has carried some of that momentum over, and it certainly seems like he's ready to make some big boy strides this campaign. With his PDO sitting at only 93.8 on the season, he could be in store for further positive regression. Sitting at only 25% owned, this is a great piece to round out your roster in 12 teamers.
I mean, we're talking about Carter Verhaeghe here. Put some respect on his name. Not 1, not 2, but 3 Stanley Cups. Mr. Verswaggy is a big moment guy. Is he off to a bit of a slow start? Maybe for his standards, but so are the Panthers, trying to adjust without Barky and Tkachuk. The former 42 goal scorer should bounce back and put up some solid numbers the rest of the way. He is consistently finding himself on the first or second line and with powerplay opportunities. Let’s not forget he tied for the most points in last year's playoffs, 23 in 23 games played. His 242 SOG led the team in the regular season. His shooting percentage is only 4.3% at the moment, but he is a career 13.1% shooter. Expect some correction to his career norms here, especially if this team can get healthier sooner rather than later. He’s 51% rostered at the moment. Monitor him closely if he’s on your waiver wire.
Now, I was trying to recommend someone for you deep leaguers, but my suggestion of Braeden Bowman may seem a bit more mainstream than originally hoped for. His ownership has increased to 17%, with an 11% increase in the last day. He has 4 goals and 1 assist through 6 games. Featuring alongside Jack Eichel (he’s good I hear) at both 5 on 5 and PP1, he’s someone I would be interested in for 12+ team re-draft leagues. I would perhaps temper expectations to some degree as the undrafted 22-year old’s most prolific junior hockey season was 72 points. But we should definitely juice this orange while the good times roll.
